Boulevard Brewing | Grainstorm | 7.7% ABV | Black Rye IPA
Oh, another craptacular beer from boulevard. I was going to write a scathing review about this beer full of f-bombs and c-bombs, but part of my review process involves checking other sites for second opinions. I don’t know what boulevard is doing, but outside of 3ish beers, they’re not for me. I didn’t like this beer but you might…buy Wookie Jack by Firestone Walker instead. Fart.

Greenbush | Anger | 7.6% abv | Black IPA
As I promised, more Greenbush. This might be one of the best black IPA’s I’ve ever had. Belgian malts, dark chocolate, bitter hops. I finally have my “available year round black ipa”. I fucking love this, and you should too.
Price: 9.99/6-pack

Hops: Columbus, Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade
Greenbush Brewing Co. | Brother Benjamin | 10.1% | Imperial IPA
Brand new to the Chicago market, Greenbush is setting a fire under beer nerd-asses, and with good reason. Brother Benjamin, the first of many Greenbush beers I’ll be bringing to your attention, is an imperial india pale ale brewed with honey. This beautiful honey filled malty iipa is pretty near perfect. Pretty sure this is available year round but don’t quote me on that. I can’t find anything saying it isn’t. Go get this fackin beer!

Half Pints Brewing Co | Little Scrapper IPA | 6% ABV
IPA
Half Pints Brewing Co is the local brewery for a GANG of friends I have in the Winnipeg area. For those of you dumb American that might be reading(and I hope you’re not), that’s in Canada. I recently went to Minneapolis to meet them and got a whole shit load of Half Pints beer! This blog is going to have a lot of half pints reviews coming up. Starting with the Little Scrapper IPA! This is a malty IPA or so I hope. Otherwise this is kind of old. Either way it’s not very good. Poor start to a brewery that has been hyped up for me. Booooooooooooooo.
Price: I unno. Usual 6 pack prices?

Avery Brewing | IPA | 6.5% ABV
IPA
Just another generic IPA with mild bitterness and not much else. There are better options than this for the price.
Price: $8.99/6pack
Rating: 4/10
Founders | Centennial IPA | 7.2% ABV
IPA
Bottled 2/22/2012 Smells great, very floral. Bitter, dank and a little sweet. Wasn’t the freshest IPA, but still pretty solid. Founders has so many other better beers though. Reminded me of Sierra Nevada Torpedo - yeah probably different hops or something, go ahead write and complain that I can’t tell the difference.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co | Hoptimum | 10.4% ABV
Double IPA
Sierra Nevada seems to be able to do no wrong with me lately. Hoptimum is their annual double IPA release and it’s fantastic! Sweet. Bitter. Fresh. Floral. This is a great IPA. If you can get your hands on it, do it! Love it.
Price: $7.99/4pack

Abita Brewing | Jockamo IPA | 6.5% ABV
IPA
This beer is fucking weird. Tastes like Italian spices. Garlic cheese bread? I don’t know. Maybe I got a bad can. Says best by 8.2.12. I can’t even finish this. Gross.

Mikkeller/To OL | Sleep Over Coffee IIPA | 11.2 FL
Coffee IPA
Wow! This is, by far, the best Coffee IPA I’ve ever had. I haven’t had many, though. Very heavy on coffee; finishes with a bitter grapefruit after taste. Not really sure how readily available Mikkeller stuff is near you, but if you see it, grab it.
Price: $7.99/12oz bottle

Two Brothers Brewing | Hop Juice Black | 10% ABV
Double Black IPA
This is probably the highlight of this breweries output and the least likely to be found on the shelves of your local beering establishment. Just another reason why I hate this brewery. This is a fantastic black IPA. Heavy on sweet coffee goodness. Bitter. Refreshing. The flavor really sticks with you like you have coffee breath. Love it. Fuck these cunts.
