Pipeworks Brewing Co | Hyper Dog 7.5% ABV
Holy shit! Come to Chicago and get this! You won’t find a better milk stout. Coffee, Vanilla, Malts. Perfect!
Maine Beer Company | Mean Old Tom | 6.5% ABV
Another beer from my east side homie, Cole. A stout “aged on natural vanilla beans”(whatever the fuck that means). It starts out like a normal stout, heavy on the malts and coffee flavor, but finishes like…as if the ghost ghost of vanilla flavor was still hanging around haunting this beer. It’s a pretty solid and unique stout. If you’re ever on the east coast, give it a shot.
Stone Brewing | Imperial Russian Stout | 10.5% ABV
Imperial Russian Stout
Stone doesn’t do a lot of stuff I like but if you’re into stouts this is a must try. It’s very good. Warms ya up, tastes like sweet coffee, and get’s ya drunk. Good price, too. Give it a shot.

Left Hand Brewing Co. | Milk Stout Nitro | 6% ABV
I guess I poured this wrong. Nevertheless, It is still a delicious stout. This is just a really sweet. It has really mild malt aftertaste. Really faint. I would recommend this to anyone trying to ease their way into stouts. This is a good bridge. Check it out and follow the directions on the bottle!
Flying Dog | Pearl Necklace | 5.5% ABV
I’ve never had an oyster so I don’t really know if this is an authentic tasting oyster stout or not. It is really good though. If you like stouts, it’s a different take on it. Really interesting. Give it a shot. It’s pretty fackin good and it’s got a clever name.

Taken strait from the website:
“What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish.”
Yes, it is every bit as delicious as it sounds. I stood in line for 10 hours in 20 degree weather for the opportunity to buy 12 12oz bottles. At the time, we thought we were getting a whole case but so many people showed up that they cut our allotment in half. I may have told the owner to go fuck himself. Shit happens. I still got my beers. Don’t pass up an opportunity get your hands on this once a year brewed beer.
Pangaea Beers | Sasquatch Stout | 7% ABV
I’ve never even heard of this brewery. Looked interesting enough, though. Standard stout fare. Heavy in roasty coffee flavor. Good thick texture. I like this. Don’t let the shitty computer generated big foot on the label scare you off. This is a pretty decent stout. Drink it up!
Dogfish Head | World Wide Stout | 18% ABV
This fackin beer…. Originally created by some dudes with too much time on their hands and the “lets make the strongest beer in the world” attitude. This beer evolved into a monster of a stout. The one I’m drinking was bottled on 11/17/09. So it’s got some age on it. I’m going to pick up a few more for the cellar. It has a heavy booze smell to it. It’s got a strong roasted malt flavor to it. It almost tastes like a bourbon barrel aged beer. It’s interesting. I’d like to see what a third or even fourth year will do to it. Dogfish Head is not brewing this beer this year so if you see it on the shelf, pick it up. I love this beer for what it is more than how it tastes and I’m OK with that. Just go get one and put it in your cellar.

Mikkeller | Beer Geek Brunch Weasel | 10.9% ABV
Ok. This one is interesting. What makes this beer unique is the Kopi Luwak coffee beans it is brewed with. For those who don’t know, Kopi Luwak is a south east asian coffee that is harvested from civet shit. These weird looking cats eat the coffee cherries and then partially digest them down to the bean. Kind of like when we eat corn…Anyways, the stomach enzymes of the civet are what gives this bean it’s unique flavor and aroma. One pound of this coffee could go for $600. This stout is very bitter. Very interesting. Warms the chest going down. Other than that it’s just a very pricey coffee stout. If you’re into coffee, this is a must try. If not, don’t bother. This beer is readily available right now. Don’t sleep on it! It will probably go fast.

Round 3! FIGHT!
Three Floyds/Half Acre | Mutiny and the Mullusk | 5.6% ABV(supposedly)
Two of my favorite breweries. How could you go wrong!? This is a stout brewed with oyster sauce and shells???? What?
Yup. That’s a thing. It’s very malty and has a strong coffee tast like any other stout. Kind of more watered down feel to it, almost like a porter. Not watered down in flavor. There’s a lot going on with this beer that I can’t decide if I like or not. Very bitter. I don’t know what I was expecting. It tastes like a dry coffee stout. Kind of disappointed. Let me know what you think about it.
