Black IPA
This is a pretty good black IPA. It’s sweeter than I’m used to but still a bitter IPA. I’d love to have access to this all the time. This is very good. Not a lot of year round black IPA’s or even readily available seasonal black IPAs in my region. If you can get this I am jealous of you. Thanks Cole!

Double Black IPA
This is probably the highlight of this breweries output and the least likely to be found on the shelves of your local beering establishment. Just another reason why I hate this brewery. This is a fantastic black IPA. Heavy on sweet coffee goodness. Bitter. Refreshing. The flavor really sticks with you like you have coffee breath. Love it. Fuck these cunts.

Black IPA
Normally I fucking hate this brewery and would stay away from anything they do but it’s a cheap black IPA and I gotta review something. Have I mentioned I love black IPAs? Surprise surprise…this is really generic. There’s a bit of coffee to it but it fades really quickly. Not much to it. Stay away from this and anything else they do. Fuck.

Uinta Brewing Co. | Dubhe | 9.2% ABV
Imperial Black IPA
This is my kind of beer. Not only is this beer just DROWNED in hops, the label of the bottle is covered in telescopes and other astrological symbols such as the big dipper. I guess I should mention that Dubhe (pronounced DOO-BEE) is brewed with hemp seeds. I wouldn’t know it if I tasted it. What I do taste is roasted malts and heavy amounts of HOP. This beer almost has a smoke taste to it. The smoke is there but not too overbearing. Great black IPA. Give it a shot.

Black Belgian Double IPA
The mighty BASHAH! A collaboration between Stone Brewing andBrewdog. It is very important to let this beer warm up a bit. That’s when the flavor really explodes. This is a very malty IPA. Lots of coffee in there to enjoy. It’s flat like a stout but has the texture of a porter. Very interesting beer. You can find this at most places that actually import their beers. This one is from Scotland. Get it.

Summit Brewing Co. | Unchained Bactch 08: Black Ale | 6.5% ABV
Black IPA
For those of you unfamiliar with Summit Brewing’s Unchained series, these are one off batches of different styles of beer by brewer Mike Lundell. They’re limited in quantity so if you see one, pick it up, it might be your only chance.
The black IPA takes citrusy bitterness that is common amongst regular IPAs and adds a dark malt flavor and coloring. This is a very complex beer. It starts out with that traditional citrus IPA taste and then dives right into a roasted malt that smoothly transitions into a sweet, almost chocolate aftertaste. This beer is fantastic. I just picked it up the other night so you can still get it. Do that.
